Concrete Technologist

LOCATION

QUALIFICATION

• Tertiary Qualification required (Concrete Technology / Civil Engineering / Building or Construction Science)
• SCT 20 / 30 / 41 / 42 or 50 hugely advantageous

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 2-3 year’s experience in either construction, civil engineering, and/or a laboratory environment.
• Exposure to a concrete manufacturing environment is advantageous.

SKILLS

• Knowledge of aggregates, cement, and admixtures.
• Fundamentals of concrete mix design.
• Knowledge of construction methods.
• Knowledge of specifications applicable to the construction environment
• Knowledge of quality control systems

• Sound analytical skills and attention to detail, with a focus on precision and accuracy.
• Deadline orientated and the ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
• Sound organizational ability.
• Sound written and verbal communication skills (English)
• Energetic and flexible disposition
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with staff and customers at all levels.
• Sound computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word)

OTHER

MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS

• Designing concrete mixes for specific customer requirements and applications
• Ongoing control of concrete mix designs to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Analysis of concrete specifications
• Maintenance of CUSUM graphs for batch plants
• Performing various tests on raw materials to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Analysis of data relating to concrete and raw material testing
• Planning of and optimal utilization of laboratory equipment
• Management of staff within a technical environment
• Assisting the Operations Department in providing technical support on both concrete and raw materials
• Assisting the Sales Department with technical queries from clients and providing support at client visits
• Assessment of Technical Skills and competence of organization staff and providing training and development.
• Customer focused delivering on service, quality, and reliability
